Assessment of Learning Outcomes – Obtaining a Qualification Certificate
As a Centre of Vocational Excellence, the Ľudovít Winter Hotel Academy in Piešťany is authorised to assess learning outcomes for the professional qualification of Cook.
Anyone who is at least 16 years old on the date of submitting their application may apply for an assessment of learning outcomes.
How to Obtain a Qualification Certificate
- Read the relevant assessment standard.
- Complete the application for an assessment of learning outcomes.
- Compile your portfolio (a collection of supporting documents).

Portfolio
If you have completed an accredited education programme but have no work experience, please enclose:
- A certified copy of a document confirming your highest level of education, or a certified copy of your most recent end-of-year school report from primary or secondary school.
- A certified copy of your certificate of completion of an accredited education programme leading to the professional qualification you wish to obtain.
If you have work experience only, have completed an accredited education programme together with work experience, have completed another related education programme together with work experience, or have another combination of relevant education and experience, please enclose:
- A certified copy of a document confirming your highest level of education, or a certified copy of your most recent end-of-year school report from primary or secondary school.
- A certified copy of your certificate of completion of an accredited education programme leading to the professional qualification you wish to obtain, if you have completed such a programme.
- Confirmation from your employer of your work experience in the relevant field. If you cannot provide this confirmation, submit a signed declaration stating your relevant work experience, the employer’s name and the period of employment, or a document proving that you have carried out business activities.
- Any other documents demonstrating your knowledge, skills and competences in accordance with the assessment standard, such as a certificate of completion of related training.
There is no specified minimum length of work experience.
An assessment committee will review your application and portfolio against the assessment standard.
The assessment committee may:
- Accept your portfolio in full and issue your professional qualification certificate without requiring an examination.
- Accept your portfolio in part and require an examination only in selected areas, referred to in the assessment standard as units of learning outcomes.
- Require an examination in all areas, referred to in the assessment standard as units of learning outcomes.
If you have completed an accredited education programme but have no work experience in the field, you must take an examination covering all areas.
Time Frames
- Within 30 working days of receiving your application and portfolio, we will notify you of the examination date, if an examination is required, or send you your certificate if no examination is necessary.
- You will be notified of the examination date at least 10 working days in advance. If the date is unsuitable, we will offer you an alternative date.
- The examination must take place within four months of the date you submitted your application.
The examination consists of a theoretical part and a practical part. The theoretical part may be written or oral. Further details are provided in the assessment standard. The examination is open to the public. If you pass, you will be issued a professional qualification certificate. If you do not pass, you are entitled to two resits.
Examination Fees
- Portfolio assessment is currently free of charge for all applicants, as it is provided through the national project Implementation of a New System for Preparing Qualified Adults for the Labour Market by Building Partnerships and Staffing Capacity – Alliance of Sector Councils. Please note: there is no legal entitlement to a free portfolio assessment. Availability depends solely on the order in which complete applications are received and the capacity of the project.
- The examination is partially subject to a fee. Staffing costs are covered by the national project mentioned above. You pay only the costs of materials, premises and technical resources required for the examination. Payment instructions will be sent to you together with your examination date.
Examination fee: EUR 250.00
